Château Cheval Blanc Premier Grand Cru Classé 2005 Wine
$1,500.00
Until 1835, the Cheval Blanc vineyard was part of the Figeac estate. It was gradually sold during the 19th century to the Fourcaud-Lussac family, who established and expanded the estate. The family remained owners until the late 20th century. In 1998, Albert Frère and Bernard Arnault acquired shares in Société Civile du Cheval Blanc, maintaining continuity through director Pierre Lurton and his team. In 2009, LVMH bought 50% of Arnault’s personal holdings. Since 2011, wine production has taken place in a modern, eco-friendly winery designed by architect Christian de Portzamparc—an initiative led by Lurton. Cheval Blanc retained its Premier Grand Cru Classé A status in the 2012 classification and expanded its land by 1.4 hectares through the annexation of the neighboring Tour du Pin estate. Located on the edge of Pomerol, the vineyard has a unique terroir and an unusual grape composition for Saint-Émilion, with more Cabernet Franc than Merlot. The estate benefits from high-quality old vines and massal selections of Cabernet Franc. Despite a slight dip in quality during the 1960s and 1970s, Cheval Blanc has held its top ranking in Saint-Émilion since 1954. In addition to its grand vin, the estate also produces a second wine, Petit Cheval, and a white wine. Its wines are globally renowned for their legendary finesse and exceptional aging potential.
